Liberate the Media!

First, I believe we can all come to the conclusion that a very small amount of extremely rich people OWN the media. Therefore, they control the majority of the news that we see. And whom do “most” unbelievably wealthy individuals support politically…. You guessed it, Repbulicans.

Here are some polls completed by Gallup that may lead you to believe the Media plays a very significant role in misleading Americans on Democratic beliefs:

Raising Taxes

63% of American Adults believe Dems will raise federal income taxes (if they win control of Congress)
23% of Americans Approve (raising taxes)
74% Disapprove

We all know that Bush is only causing tax breaks for the wealthy! For the folks that are making over 1 million dollars a year. Here is a quote from “United for a Fair Economy”, which displays the consequence of Bush’s tax cuts.

“Between 2002 and 2004 the Bush tax cuts amounted to a shortfall of
approximately $200 billion going from the federal government to states,
resulting in a combination of service cuts and tax increases by the states that
equaled about that amount, and which was paid for disproportionately by the
middle class and the poor.”

Terrorism

49% of Americans believe that Dems would cut back on fighting terrorism.
21% approve of “cutting back”.

However, Bush has not implemented any of the 9/11 (bipartisan) commission’s suggestions for a safer America. Furthermore, the 9/11 commission in 2005 issued a report card for President Bush on the safety of America… Bush received 12 D’s and a whopping 5 Fs! Also, why would anyone believe that Dems want America to be the victim of a terrorist attack? Just because we don’t support war with the rest of the world, doesn’t mean we advocate for America to be harmed.

Minimum wage

74% of Americans believe Dems would increase the Minimum Wage.
86% of approve

Now I will go out on a limb here and say ALL of Democrats would raise the minimum wage. In 2005 the Senate voted for the “Fair Minimum Wage Act”, 100% of Democrats voted Yes to this act, hoping for an increase in minimum wage. Yet, this Act didn’t pass, because 92% of Republicans voted no!

Forget 74%, All of Americans should be saying, “Yes, we believe the Dems will increase minimum wage.”

Wrapping up

Wow! The public sure has an unclear view of the Democrats. How is that so… well again the Media! People ultimately belief what they hear from our, oh so trusted news.

By living in Korea I find myself watching news, that is not American, it doesn't offer a one sided view & focuses on news from around the world… rather than just domestically. By comparing and contrasting the BBC Asia Pacific to Fox News (or insert other crappy news channel) it really is startling the lack of information America reports to viewers.

I do believe Dems will win this election & take control of Congress, but on the mere fact that Republicans have screwed our country so badly there is no other choice! But be assured millions of votes for Dems are lost due to misrepresentation from the media.
